Yunfei Li is a Kansas City–based composer whose work blends traditional instruments, cutting-edge music technology, and environmental sounds to create a distinctive musical language. Drawing on Eastern and Western classical traditions as well as contemporary genres, her versatile compositions have been performed by ensembles including the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, SPLICE Ensemble, Cassatt String Quartet, and university wind ensembles across North America, and featured at international festivals such as June in Buffalo, ClarinetFest, and the Kansas City Contemporary Music Festival. A recipient of the Ucross Foundation fellowship and awards from MUSICACOUSTICA–Beijing and the Denver International Electronic Music Composition Competition, her works—such as Circling, 24/7, and Five Elements—have been recorded, commissioned, and widely celebrated. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Crescendo Arts Collective, a nonprofit dedicated to inclusive, community-centered music-making and education, and an active collaborator with filmmakers, choreographers, and multimedia artists. Li is a doctoral candidate in Music Composition at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, holds a Master of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Arts from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
